  • Refrigerant Trading Authorisation No. AU24674

At Hitech Auto Electrical and Mechanical Auto Service, we recommend getting your air conditioner serviced every 12 months. This is due to the fact that most systems will slowly lose gas through hoses, O-rings or seals. Moisture can also be absorbed through hoses resulting in gas loss or filters can become blocked with debris.

Most car owners and many service centres, do not appreciate that if a car’s air conditioning system is not correctly maintained on a regular basis, there is a risk of system damage or even a complete vehicle breakdown.

Whether you have an new or older model vehicle, our full-service air conditioning repair service can help keep you cool, even in the hottest summer months.

👉An air conditioning service involves connecting service gauges and running the air conditioning to check pressure and its system performance.

What can go wrong with your air conditioning system?

Many customers do not use their air conditioning during the winter months, unfortunately this can cause the internal seals to dry out and result in leaks. We encourage our customers to use their air conditioning throughout the year for demisting their windows; most air conditioning systems will work even when the heater is on, and come the summer the air conditioning unit has not suffered the common fault of seals drying out.

Turning off air conditioning systems in the winter months leaves condensation in the pipe work. This, combined with heat from the engine, provides an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and mould spores. Besides the unpleasant smells, this can result in sore throats and allergic reactions. Also, in the winter months windows tend to mist up if the filter is blocked, as the warm air stream cannot circulate properly.

    Air Conditioning Leak Repair

At Hitech Auto Electrical and Mechanical Auto Service, our air conditioning technicians are highly trained and equipped to determine if there is a leak in your vehicle’s AC system. Some air conditioning systems require internal lubrication to prevent cracking. If a system dries out and cracks, a leak will likely occur. You can help avoid a crack in you’re A/C system by running it periodically, even when it is cool outside.

The act of running the system will help with lubrication only on certain types of vehicles. If your AC system is not operating right, give us a call and ask our technicians about the maintenance required for your specific vehicle type.

    Air Conditioning System Re-gas

You may not be aware that over 10% of air conditioning gas permeates from the system every year, which means that your system may not work as well as it should. This is why car manufacturers recommend your AC system is recharged with gas and lubricant according to your vehicles manufactures hand book. This service is not part of routine vehicle servicing, so if you have had your vehicle since new or you have bough a second hand vehicle that is more than 2 years old, it’s probably due for a recharge.

Hitech Auto Electrical and Mechanical Service offers a complete air conditioning recharge service in our brand new state-of-the-art service centre. You can book an appointment or simply pop in and have a chat with one of our technicians.
The recharge process can some times include a system de-bug to clear bacterial build up from within the system, which will remove any unpleasant odours. Our trained technicians will show you the difference in your AC system before and after recharge. Air conditioning systems not fully recharged will be less effective and have to work harder putting more strain on the engine and using more fuel.
